NORTH. SOUTH. EAST. WEST. -were believed to be the four different paths of human lives, according to the Cherokee Natives.

THE NORTH (skull) ~my own personal path~ represents the “mental path” which is the direction of learning and sharing, taken by those who have a visionary focus for themselves and a unification of the physical, mental, and the spiritual. They have an innate ability to sense the energies of the universe, and are constantly seeking the right balance for peace.

THE SOUTH (flower) Represents the “natural path” or the direction of those who seek to retain or regain their innocence , enjoy playing games, and caring for animals and others. They are the path where the spirit becomes human being, the cherubs of the earth.

THE WEST (lit match) represents the “physical path” for those who place value on endurance, physical beauty, competition, and introspection, also known as “the darkened land” they have a strong connection with the afterlife and spiritual. They understand that we are kin to all things, and all things are kin to us. They are protectors of the earth, and the communicators between the physical and spirit worlds.

THE EAST (ghost) represents the “spiritual path” or the direction of those who have a great connection with the force of life within us that links us to a higher power. They represent the sacred and the eternal flame that acts as doorway to the inner self within each of us and as our connection with the universe.
